North American Waterfowl Management Plan partners recognize that sustaining waterfowl populations requires continually adjusting conservation efforts. Global population growth, agricultural demands and unpredictable hydrological conditions pose a risk to duck, geese and swan populations. In Canada, Plan partners have worked to conserve 2.3 million hectares of wetland, shoreline, grassland and woodland habitat. These efforts complement conservation-oriented public policies and private landowner stewardship initiatives. But our work is just beginning.
